Portland View sits on the corner of Dean Street and Bishop Street, and adjacent to Portland Square, one of Bristol’s most attractive Georgian Squares right at the heart of central Bristol

The development consists of 31 premium quality apartments with a mix of one, two and three bed properties. Additionally, Portland View includes four two storey town houses, each with three bedrooms.

Originally engaged to provide early feasibility cost advice our appointment was extended to provide EA, PD and funder Project Monitoring.

The scheme was procured on an informal negotiated partnering arrangement.

Early challenging issues such as UXO surveys, unexpected basements and performance issues with a key subcontractor tested relationships, but in a co-operative spirit these were overcome with an agreed recovery programme

We were also able to assist with an amended planning strategy to convert the commercial units to apartments, to facilitate the later construction of Penthouse Suites. The timing of revised applications being key to minimise the Client’s exposure to Section 106 and CIL costs. Costs, programme and enabling works for future Penthouse access were agreed early with the Contractor, mitigating any potential claims.
